Introduction

This project aims to procure a state-of-the-art Semiconductor Parameter Analyser (SPA) equipped with 4 High-Resolution Source Measurement Units (HR-SMUs), 2 Capacitance Measurement Units (CMUs), and 2 Pulse Measure Units (PMUs) to support the growing research needs of the department. The new SPA will enable precise electrical measurements of semiconductor devices, critical for ongoing research in VLSI technology, quantum devices, and 2D-materials simulations.
HR-SMUs for high-precision voltage versus current measurement, CMUs for capacitance-voltage analysis, PMUs for pulse excitation, crucial for transient analysis. The system will provide a wide measurement range starting from a few-tens of femtoamperes (fA), enabling the analysis of both conventional and advanced devices, such as advanced 2D-material-based transistors.
Estimated Timeline for the Project
8 months
- 6 months for Acquisition and
- 2 months for Installation and testing.
Expected Impact
Our current parameter analyser, which is used across multiple systems, is becoming outdated and unable to meet the growing demands of departmental research. Additionally, the mini electrical probe stations recently procured lack the necessary electrical measurement units, limiting their functionality. Thus, acquiring this new SPA is essential to support the increasing research needs of the department.
The new SPA will support advanced research and enable high-precision measurements required for characterizing advanced devices like FinFETs, quantum devices, and 2D-material-based transistors. It will help us meet the growing need for accurate device characterization in VLSI technology and increase opportunities of national and international collaborations.
