The 39th edition of Spardha, IIT BHU’s annual sports fest, unfolded in grand style this October, bringing together over 1,800 participants in an inspiring display of sportsmanship and competition. The fest kicked off on October 1 with Saturnalia, an energetic DJ night, setting an exciting tone. Cyclothon on October 15 and Run for a Cause on October 16 further engaged the community, promoting health and social awareness.
The opening ceremony on October 17 featured Brigadier Anirban Dutta,SM and Munaf Patel as honored guests, launching three days of intense competition across 19 sports, including basketball, football, cricket, boxing, badminton, athletics, kabaddi, taekwondo, powerlifting, weightlifting, chess, kho kho, cycling, handball, squash, table tennis, and tennis. Representing IIT BHU, 800 athletes performed exceptionally, earning 77 medals and securing the title of overall champions. IIIT Delhi claimed the title of outstation winner, showcasing remarkable skill.
The closing ceremony on October 20 featured Surender Nada and Manoj Sarkar, who inspired athletes to keep their passion alive. With this memorable edition, Spardha 2024 celebrated unity, resilience, and the undying spirit of competition at IIT BHU.
